Technical Director Needed for MMO

Spin Master, a toy company for which I am producing a children's MMO, is seeking a technical director.

Here is s description of the job responsibilities.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Oversight
  • Responsible for the game studio technical environment.
  • Provide technical strategic direction for hardware, software and networking for both development and end-user platform.
  • Define and support overall technical design, code quality, and game architecture.
  • Identify, evaluate, recommend and implement development tools and procedures.
  • Review programming code for quality, consistency and compliance with established protocol.
  • Managing departmental budget requirements.
  • Manage 3rd party partnerships and process

Functional Collaboration
  • Work with the Toronto IT team to enforce Corporate Security, system compatibilities and plan networking improvement
  • Drive strong collaboration with functional leads both within and outside the organization
  • Foster relationships with peer experts in other studios, share best practices.
  • Identify technical problems, and work with producers, leads and other directors to solve them.

Schedule Management
  • Sets project milestone targets, and defines development efficiency and game performance metrics
  • Evaluate milestone achievements for technical completion, quality and compliance.

Staff Management
  • Manage engineering and operations staff
  • Manage career growth of staff
  • Manage recruitment efforts


KEY METRICS

  • Properly functioning internal and production technical environment
  • Functioning engineering and operations process and oversight methodology
  • Strong collaborative relationship with studio team leads and head office IT
